Playing

How do I flick?

Touch and hold anywhere on the paper. Drag your finger away from where you want the line to go, like pulling back a slingshot, then let go. The longer you hold, the farther the pen slides, but the line bends and scatters more. A quick flick is short and true.

I changed my mind mid-flick.

While holding, slide your finger onto the ✕ in the corner on your side of the board and let go. Nothing happens and it's still your turn. A very small pull does nothing either.

Why can't my line go through the enemy's line?

Fresh enemy ink is a wall. Your pen stops just short of it. Your own lines never block you, and the lines of fallen soldiers fade and stop no one.

My other soldiers started pulsing. What does that mean?

An enemy is close to your base. Put your finger on any pulsing soldier and flick from there. That soldier shoots but stays home. It still uses your turn.

What's in the bag?

Two landmines and a sniper. Tap the bag, pick one, then tap the board to hide it there. Hiding one uses your turn. Your opponent can't see it until it goes off.

The game says "Waiting for the defense". Why isn't it over?

Your line would win, but your opponent has something hidden on the page. Their side gets to say whether your line set it off before the result stands. Their phone answers on its own the next time it's online, usually within seconds.

Online play

How do I play a friend?

Open Settings (the gear), then Play Online, then Challenge a friend. Send them the six-letter code. They enter it under Join with code. Turns pass back and forth whenever each of you has a moment.

How do I play a stranger?

Settings, Play Online, Find an opponent. You'll be paired with the next person looking, or wait until someone finds you.

Do I need an account?

No. The app signs you in anonymously in the background. If you're signed in to Game Center on your iPhone, Pitikan links to it so your record follows you to a new phone and your name appears on the leaderboard.

How do I change my name?

Open Settings (the gear) and type a name under Your name, up to twenty characters. It shows on the leaderboard and to your opponents right away. Leave it empty and Pitikan uses your Game Center nickname if you're signed in to Game Center; without either you appear as "Player" plus four characters of your ID. Offensive names are refused, and one that slips through is reset to "Player".

I don't get "your move" notifications.

Allow notifications for Pitikan in iOS Settings. Pitikan only ever sends them for a game you're in: your turn, the result, and a rematch offer.

Can I leave a game?

Yes. Settings → Leave game resigns it, and your opponent gets the win. Starting a New Game while an online game is on the table also resigns it. A challenge nobody has answered yet is simply withdrawn.

Leaderboard

Which games count?

Online games only. A win for one player, a loss for the other. Resigning counts as a loss. Games against the computer never count, and a game nobody moved in counts for nothing.

How is it ranked?

By wins. Among players with the same wins, the better win rate comes first, then whoever got there in fewer games.

Your data

How do I delete my data?

Deleting the app removes everything on your phone. To remove your online records (your player entry, leaderboard row, and match history), email apps@kantoprojects.com with the name shown on your leaderboard row. See the Privacy Policy for what is stored.
